A blurb from Georges Bataille

Before I forget about this blurb, I had to post it to remind myself to look into the theory behind energy sooner or later. Just after watching Juan Enriquez's talk from TED (he argued that we need to find the other way to use energy other than burning - is it possible for non living organism? i don't know..) this became really interesting field to look at for me. In the end, energy is the origin for us and I think it is important to know and think about the nature of them, and how to obtain and consume without causing any harm, or accepting the fact that certain sacrifice is necessary. Below is the quote.

"The living organism, in a situation determined by the play of energy on the surface of the globe, ordinarily receives more energy than is necessary for maintaining life; the excess energy(wealth) can be used for the growth of a system; if the system can no longer grow, or if the excess cannot be completely absorbed in its growth, it must necessarily be lost without profit; it must be spent, willingly or not, gloriously or catastrophically."
